As Town Hall meetings go, the one held on Sunday July 1, 2007, was not anticipated to be an exceptionally exciting one. However, parish members were quite interested and enthusiasm continued to build up throughout the church auditorium, especially after Fr. Vahan opened the proceedings with a special invitation: “Let’s celebrate the anniversary of our church’s consecration as one family.”
Parish Council Chairman Michael Zohrabian remarked that the 50th anniversary celebrations were among the first priorities of the church’s functions in the coming year. 50th Anniversary chair Garo Sekdorian mentioned all the sub-committee chairs and stated that there would be honorary chairs as well.
Gregory Manuelian as fund-raising chair promised to do everything in his power to raise the much-needed funds to beautify and expand our facilities.
All the events of the year-long 50th anniversary celebrations from October 2007 through October 2008 were outlined and eagerly anticipated by all present.
Elise Antreassian Bayizian spoke about the Kick-Off Weekend, fervently describing the 50-hour marathon Scripture reading followed by a religious service and a party, in October 2007, at which gifts will be welcomed from those in attendance, hopefully totaling $50,000.
Dr. Lynn Cetin discussed the archive project on which she and Dr. Stephen Ashbahian are working, for presentation at the closing banquet. Dr. Cetin asked for parishioners to bring their mementoes for inclusion in this exclusive presentation.
Rita Keshishian announced that the closing Golden Jubilee Banquet would be held on Sunday, October 26, 2008, as the Garden City Hotel as an elegant venue befitting the milestone. Discussions, questions and answers ensued, with enthusiasm building up for this forthcoming celebration./
