The 115th Diocesan Assembly met at the Innisbrook Golf & Spa Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida from May 4-6. The Assembly, hosted by the St. Hagop parish of Pinellas Park, Florida was attended by Fr. Abraham, Parish Council Chair, Pat Apelian Aitken and Diocesan Delegates, Hilda Adil, Dn. Vartan Ajamian, Bruce Ashbahian, Dr. Lynn Cetin, and Gregory Saraydarian. The delegates heard reports from the various Diocesan departments, reviewed financial reports, viewed new Diocesan media available for educational purposes and voted on important Diocesan matters. Congratulations to Fr. Abraham for being elected to the 2017-18 Nominating Committee and to Bruce Ashbahian for being elected to the 2017-18 Proposals Committee. On Friday evening, May 5, at the Diocesan Assembly Gala Banquet, Florida Congressman Gus Bilirakis was presented the 2017 “Friend of the Armenians” award and Sandra Shahinian Leitner was presented the 2017 “Armenian of the Year” award.
