On Friday October 6, the Holy Martyrs ACYOA Juniors left for sports weekend at St.Leon’s Armenian Church in Fairlawn, New Jersey. ACYOA members from different parishes in the Diocese competed in sports including volleyball, basketball, and ping pong. Aside from sports, participants spent time with ACYOA members from other parishes that they had met at various sports weekends, retreats, or camps over the years. They also had the opportunity to make new friends. Armenian pride was definitely at a high this weekend as the Armenian flag was waved during the dances and the cheers of “Hayastan” could be heard from the mouth of every member in the room. Overall, it was an exciting weekend which promoted Armenian unity and helped to create and maintain lasting friendships. Congratulations to Isabel Hagopian for receiving the Best Sportsmanship Award. We encourage more people to join the ACYOA Juniors and to be part of this great experience!
