Bravo to the Street Festival Committee for once again hosting another successful Oceania Street Armenian Festival last weekend. Despite the oppressive heat, parishioners, friends, neighbors and many volunteers came to support the biggest fundraiser of the year. Last minute changes did not stop the success. Our headliner, international superstar Robert Chilingerian, was sidelined by a medical emergency and thankfully the Tarpinian Ensemble was able to fill in at the last minute. Thanks to all performers, volunteers and sponsors of the Street Festival and congratulations to all the prize winners. Click here to view photos on our Facebook page. Details of the day’s events will be published in the November Narrec.
For the first time, Holy Martyrs hosted an evening event after the Street Festival. "Rockin' Out on Oceania,” a concert and party featuring the NJ band On the Lam started at 7pm in Kalustyan Hall. Band members are Linda Berenson, Jim Bashian, Gary Malajian, Paul Shahinian, and Dennis McKinley played rock music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, while attendees enjoyed delicious mezze and savory desserts. In addition, Harry's Habana Hut was on the premises to sell cigars to the guests. Everyone tore down the dance floor to On the Lam's tunes. What a nice way to end the day of the Oceania Street Festival! We hope to start a tradition at Holy Martyrs and have an annual evening event.
