Celebration
Concert in Celebration of Year of the Pomegranate
On Saturday evening, November 19, Holy Martyrs celebrated the Year of the Pomegranate with a special concert in Kalustyan Hall. Beautiful selections of Baroque, classical and Armenian pieces were performed by parishioners Ruthann Turekian (soprano), Nevart Zeronian-Dadourian (piano) and Ashot Soghomonyan (flute). All three performers are professional musicians and it was an honor to hear them share their tremendous talents with the Armenian community. A reception followed the concert and all present were able to congratulate the performers at that time. This year, Holy Martyrs' annual Cultural Night event was part of the Food Fair weekend. Cultural Night is funded annually by the Jevarjian Family and Cetin Family Trust Funds in memory of their loved ones.
Food Fair & Pomegranate Festival a Sold-Out Success!
Saturday and Sunday, November 19-20, was an amazing weekend at Holy Martyrs! The Food Fair Committee, under the chairmanship of Patty Demirjian, outdid themselves once again, by presenting a wonderful assortment of Armenian and seasonal delicacies for all to purchase and enjoy! By 3pm on Sunday afternoon, all items were sold out! Many thanks to all the financial and food sponsors for making this event a tremendous success!
On Sunday, November 20, following Badarak, Fr. Abraham, the choir members and altar servers led a procession to the outdoor lower plaza to bless the newly planted pomegranate tree in commemoration of the Year of the Pomegranate. A celebratory program, highlighting Armenian youth (the seeds of our future), and a hot luncheon, followed in the church auditorium during the Food Fair. The Holy Martyrs Hye Bar Dance Group and the singers of the Astghigner Vocal Ensemble from the Brooklyn mission parish entertained the packed hall of proud parishioners with their lively dances and energetic voices. Congratulations to Zarmi Megherian for being the lucky winner of the pomegranate themed raffle basket!
