The Sunday School held its first parent workshop, "First Sundays," to help families in the Sunday School grow in faith at home. Did you know that faith evolves through very predictable stages just as psychological, social, and cognitive development does? The next parent workshop will be held on November 5 and will include best practices for reading and growing in Scripture together at home.
Following the workshop, parents, students, teachers and staff went to church for communion and to participate in a brief commitment service. Fr. Abraham reminded the congregation that everyone is a partner in the task of providing Christian education for the children and young people of our parish. This partnership helps shape the faith formation of our youth. Co-Superintendent Dr. Arthur Asadorian first asked the teachers to stand, then the parents, then the Sunday School students and finally the entire congregation to stand and declare how they will commit themselves as individuals to teach, to learn, to nurture and to support our children. It was a beautiful ceremony, filling everyone's hearts with joy.
