Movie Night
On Saturday evening, March 24, over 150 people enjoyed a screening of the documentary film "They Shall Not Perish - The Story of Near East Relief" in the church auditorium, followed by a special presentation by Shant Mardirossian, the film's producer and Chairman of the Near East Foundation's (NEF) Board of Directors. The film highlighted the history of the Near East Foundation and the role the American public played in the relief efforts during and after the Armenian Genocide. In his remarks, Mardirossian described his desire to produce a film that spoke to his Armenian and American roots. Incredibly poignant, the film left all with a sense of pride that the Americans were at the forefront of the relief efforts to help many Armenians survive and flourish despite incredible tragedies. The NEF helped save many orphaned Armenian children and brought them to safety. Many of these children are the descendants of our community members. This special evening was made possible through the financial support and participation of the Holy Martyrs Parish Council and the Knights and Daughters of Vartan (Etchmiadzin Lodge and Ani Otyag). A beautiful champagne and Lenten reception, sponsored by Nichan and Christine Tchorbajian, allowed all in attendance to meet the producer and share their views on this incredible documentary with one another.
