Diocesan Assembly
The 116th Diocesan Assembly, hosted by St. Gregory the Enlightener Church, White Plains, NY, convened at the Renaissance Westchester Marriott in Harrison, NY from May 3-5. The Assembly was preceded by the annual Clergy Conference from April 30-May 3. Fr. Abraham, our Parish Council Chairman and Diocesan Delegates were in attendance at the Assembly and took part in the historic election of our new Primate, Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan. In addition to the excitement of the election, the delegates were updated about the projects of the various Diocesan departments, heard a presentation about new "air rights" construction next to the Diocesan plaza, reviewed the annual Diocesan budget and discussed new business proposals. Nazar & Artemis Nazarian were presented the St. Vartan Golden Anniversary Medal, Toros Mangassarian was the recipient of the “Armenian Church Member of the Year” award and Stephen Smith was the recipient of the “Friend of the Armenians” award at the Assembly's Grand Banquet. In celebration of St. Vartan Cathedral's 60th anniversary, clergy and delegates attended a special exhibition and concert of sacred music at the Cathedral on Saturday evening, May 5 and a beautiful anniversary Badarak and reception on Sunday, May 6.
