On Sunday, January 6, Sarkis Bakirdjian served as the Godfather of the Cross during the Blessing of the Water service. Sarkis is the son of Juan and Monique Bakirdjian. He is in the 4th grade at Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School, attends Sunday School and serves on the altar every other Sunday. Once a month he attends Acolyte Training with Fr. Abraham. In his free time, Sarkis takes chess and robotics classes at Holy Martyrs, is a member of the Holy Martyrs boys basketball team and the Dzirani dance group, takes piano lessons and plays soccer with Homenetmen in the summer. Sarkis' parents said that he felt very honored when he was told the good news about being the Godfather.
During the Blessing of the Water service Sarkis said that he was happy and, since he was holding the cross that represented Jesus, he felt that he was John the Baptist baptizing Jesus because he was a little wet. He was very grateful to have that opportunity. Congratulations to Sarkis and the Bakirdjian Family!
