HMADS Friends 25th Anniversary Gala
On Saturday evening, June 1 the annual Friends of Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School Gala took place at the North Hills Country Club. The HMADS family gathered in wonderful spirit to celebrate the 25th Silver Anniversary of Friends of HMADS. A joyous crowd of benefactors, friends, board members, parents, alumni and students spent a lovely evening in honor of our beloved school. The evening started with a lavish cocktail hour followed by an exquisite dinner. Friends Chairman, Hovannes Malikyan, welcomed the guests and invited Mr. Nurhan Adarian, founder of Friends to speak. Principal Mrs. Seta Megherian followed with her opening remarks. Arpi Candan, this year's booklet chair, was invited to the podium to give her congratulatory message. Fr. Abraham also spoke on the benefits of the Armenian Day School and said a prayer. Everyone had a fun and memorable evening.
HMADS 6th Grade Graduates Visit Fr. Abraham
Each year the Sixth grade graduating class meets with Fr. Abraham prior to their graduation ceremony. The four graduates of Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School - Haig Anastasian, Lucine Ciamician, Vrej Oganesian, and Nikolas Yaziciyan - met with Fr. Abraham on Friday, June 4. The students were excited to meet Fr. Abraham and had a lovely discussion with him. They asked and answered questions and were each given a special prayer book. This special day will be a lasting memory for the graduates of Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School. Thank you for this opportunity Fr. Abraham!
HMADS Nursery & Kindergarten Graduation
On Friday, June 7, the Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School (HMADS) held its annual Nursery and Kindergarten Graduation. The special day began with the procession of our smiling, excited students as they entered the auditorium. Students and guests were welcomed by Principal Mrs. Seta Megherian. A special plaque from the HMADS Board and Administration was presented to Ms. Ethel Congro in honor of her 30 years of service to HMADS. A dedication by Principal Emeritus, Mrs. Zarmine Boghosian, was presented by her former student Sesil Diktas. The program highlighted the beautiful colors of the rainbow. The children danced, sang and recited with great excitement. Fr. Abraham closed the program with his remarks and prayer. We look forward to seeing our children back in September!
HMADS 6th Grade Graduation
On Friday June 14, the Holy Martyrs Armenian Day School (HMADS) family held its sixth grade graduation ceremony. This year the graduates were Haig Anastasian, Lucine Ciamician, Vrej Oganessian and Nikolas Yaziciyan. A beautifully decorated auditorium greeted an audience filled with family, friends, HMADS Board and Administration, Benefactors and Friends. Fr. Nareg Terterian, Pastor of St.Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, opened the evening with prayer. Principal Mrs. Seta Megherian welcomed the audience and addressed the graduates. The program was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Gomidas Vartabed and Hovannes Toumanian. Special alumni speaker, Armineh Babikian (class of 2002), gave an inspirational speech to her alma mater and talented alumni, Aren Arakelian (class of 2014), performed Gomidas' "Groong," accompanied by Ms. Hasmik Meikhanejian. Principal Emeritus, Mrs. Zarmine Boghosian, greeted the audience and honored Mrs. Houri Ghoughasian for her 20 years of dedicated service to HMADS as an Armenian educator. Digin Houri will be missed but she promises to come back and visit often. Former Board Chair and current board member, Arek Nisanyan, presented an honorary plaque to Mr. Edouard Garabedian for his 45 years of service to the school. A closing prayer by Fr. Abraham concluded the beautiful evening. We wish all of our graduates all the success in the world. Congratulations!
