The Diocesan Delegates are an elected group of individuals who represent Holy Martyrs at the annual Diocesan Assembly hosted each year by a different parish in the Eastern Diocese. Each Diocesan Delegate has a vote at the annual Assembly and is our parish’s voice on many important discussions at the Diocesan level. Every four years the Diocesan Delegates elect the Primate of the Eastern Diocese.
According to Holy Martyrs’ own bylaws, the Diocesan Delegates must have previously served on the Parish Council in order to be eligible to run for a delegate position. In this way, Holy Martyrs has secured seasoned and experienced individuals who have demonstrated leadership qualities and commitment to the parish to be our voice at the annual Assembly.
The number of Diocesan Delegates assigned to each parish is based on the number of dues-paying members. Therefore, larger parishes have more votes at the annual Assembly. Holy Martyrs currently has six Diocesan Delegates.
